Description
LSI Polyurethane (PU) coated fiberglass fabric is constructed from a fiberglass base fabric and impregnated or coated one side or both sides with a specially compounded Polyurethane (PU), which enhanced the strength, fireproof, high temperature insulation ozone, oxygen, sun weather and oil workability.
Application
1.Barrier against water penetration:
The polyurethane coating forms a physical barrier that prevents water molecules from passing through the fabric. It blocks the entry of liquid water, keeping the fabric and its contents dry.
2. Seam sealing:
PU coating can be used to seal seams, which are vulnerable areas where water can seep into the fabric. By applying the coating to the seams, it reinforces the waterproofness of the fabric, ensuring maximum protection against water ingress.
3. Moisture resistance:
The PU coating also provides resistance against moisture, preventing dampness and condensation from affecting the fabric. It helps maintain the fabric's integrity and prevents the growth of mold or mildew.
4. Durable water repellency:
PU coating creates a surface that is highly water-repellent. Water droplets bead up and roll off the fabric instead of being absorbed, enhancing the fabric's waterproof properties.
5. Breathability (in some cases):
While not all PU coatings are breathable, some formulations allow for moisture vapor to escape from the fabric. This breathability feature ensures that, while maintaining waterproofness, the fabric allows perspiration or moisture from the inside to be released, keeping the wearer comfortable.
PU-coated fabrics find applications in various outdoor gear and equipment, including rain jackets, waterproof pants, tents, backpacks, and bags. They are also used in industrial and healthcare settings where protection against water or liquid exposure is paramount. The waterproof properties of PU coating make it a favored choice for products that require reliable protection against moisture and rain.
